Obstetrics (1st, 2nd and 3rd trimester)

Please report to Admitting 15 minutes before your scheduled exam time.

PREP: Full bladder recommended.

PURPOSE: Obstetric Ultrasounds are performed if there is vaginal spotting/bleeding, cramping, pelvic pain, checking fetal viability, checking size and dates, checking amniotic fluid or morphology.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Patient will be scanned lying down on a cart. A gel (lotion) will be applied to the area being scanned. A series of images will be obtained which will be read by a Radiologist. A report will be sent to your ordering doctor.

TIME FRAME: 30 - 45 minutes

POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS: None
