Neonate Head

Please report to Admitting 15 minutes before your scheduled exam time.

PURPOSE: A Neonate Head is performed if there is prematurity, or for Hydrocephalus.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Neonate will be scanned lying down on a cart. A sterile gel will be applied to the neonate's head for imaging. The transducer is gently placed on the fontonelle (soft spot) for imaging purposes. A series of images will be obtained which will be read by a Radiologist.

TIME FRAME: 15 - 20 minutes

POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS: None

IF YOU ARE PREGNANT, INFORM THE TECHNOLOGIST BEFORE THE EXAM.
