Kidney with Dopplers

Please report to Admitting 15 minutes before your scheduled exam time.

PREP: Nothing to eat or drink after midnight / 8 hours

PURPOSE: A Kidney with Dopplers is performed for hypertension or Renal Artery Stenosis.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Patient will be scanned lying down on a cart. A gel (lotion) will be applied to the area being scanned. The technologist will have you hold your breath for short periods of time, may have to rotate from side to side. A series of images will be obtained which will be read by a Radiologist.

TIME FRAME: 45 minutes to 1.5 hours

POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS: None

IF YOU ARE PREGNANT, INFORM THE TECHNOLOGIST BEFORE THE EXAM.
