A tree can often be a sign of growth and new life, and for grieving family members in Garrison, they were planting roots to remember their loved ones.
St. Alexius Medical Center hosted the 19th annual Hospice Memorial Tree Planting at Benedictine Living Center Tuesday afternoon to honor their loved ones who have passed away in the last year.
As people come and go in our lives, planting a tree is a permanent way to ensure those rich memories last forever.
"While grief never goes away, there is always hope and growth, and it changes just like a tree changes. Your grief changes,” says St. Alexius Hospice Chaplain Lori Lundblad.
A tree planting ceremony will be held at Elm Crest Manor in New Salem on June 16.
