It's a common fear among many Americans right now, being trapped in a building where there's an active gunman. But what would happen if a mass shooting happened in a place where people might not be able to defend themselves?
Even though details are sparse, St. Alexius Hospital is taking extra precautions by revising their active shooter plan, in case something drastic ever did happen at the hospital.
"In conjunction with working with the West Dakota SWAT team and Bismarck Police Department in crafting this active shooter policy, we've also brought them in," says emergency management director Greg Busch. "We've familiarized them with the building itself, so their response can be quicker and more effective if need be."
St. A's also participated with the state in performing active shooter drills at the hospital.
