Dr. Matthew Nelson joined St. Alexius Heart & Lung Clinic in September 2012. As a cardiologist, he is specially trained and skilled in finding, treating and preventing diseases of the heart and blood vessels.
Dr. Nelson earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise science and master’s degree in exercise physiology from Brigham Young University. He was awarded his medical degree from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. Dr. Nelson performed his internal medicine residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He completed his fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at Mayo Clinic in Arizona.
Dr. Nelson is certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine and is licensed to practice medicine in Arizona and North Dakota. His professional memberships include the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology and Phi Kappa Phi.
