St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck announced today its decision to expand its clinic presence in Mandan, ND. According to Gary P. Miller, president and CEO of St. Alexius, the current clinic location does not allow for expansion. “At the time we opened our family practice clinic, the space was just what we needed. But increasing demands for our services compelled us to find a new home.” The site for the new 22,000 square foot healthcare facility is at the intersection of Sunset Drive and Old Red Trail.
Sister Nancy Miller, president of St. Alexius’ Board of Directors, says, “In addition to having the capacity to grow to six primary care providers, the clinic will offer imaging (diagnostic radiology, MRIs, CTs, ultrasound, mammography and Dexa Scan), laboratory and select rehabilitation therapy services.” For the convenience of patients, the plan features a retail pharmacy.
“St. Alexius’ goal is to be a one-stop shop for people seeking healthcare,” says St. Alexius’ Board chair, John Castleberry. The cost for the new building is estimated at $8 million dollars. The second floor will have space reserved for future growth plans. “We are very proud of the fact that for more than 127 years, St. Alexius Medical Center has been 100 percent locally owned and operated. That tradition continues to be true today.”
A ground breaking ceremony is scheduled at the site for Thursday, September 6 at 9:00 a.m. The projected opening of the new clinic is early 2014.
