Derek Kane, MD joined the Surgery department at Mid Dakota Clinic PrimeCare in August 2009. He is board-certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery.
A native of Bismarck, Dr. Kane graduated summa cum laude from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks with a Bachelor of Science in biology. He went on to complete a Master of Science in anatomical sciences and a Doctor of Medicine from Rush University in Chicago, IL, where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Prior to joining the clinic, Dr. Kane completed a general surgery residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee where he served as co-administrative chief resident, and received the Resident Teacher of the Year Award as well as the Golden Scalpel Award.
Dr. Kane is a Fellow member of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the American Medical Association, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, and the American Society of Breast Surgeons. He is licensed to practice in the state of North Dakota.
