Dr. Walter Astorne is a board-certified physician in St. Alexius Medical Center’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU). As an intensivist in the ICU, he is trained specifically in the care of critically ill patients.
Dr. Astorne received his medical degree from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru. Then he completed an internal medicine residency and acted as a chief medical resident at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Mich. He also completed clinical nephrology and critical care medicine fellowships at Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education in Rochester, Minn. While at the Mayo Clinic, he served as an instructor in medicine for the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine.
Dr. Astorne is a member of numerous professional organizations including American Society of Nephrology, American College of Physicians, American College of Chest Physicians, American Thoracic Society, Society of Critical Care Medicine and Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology.
