Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) - 2 Day
Multiple trauma has become known as the most neglected disease of the decade. Trauma kills more people between the ages of 15 & 24 – more than all other causes combined. It is also the leading cause of death and disability for all age groups up to the age of 45.
The Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) recognized that these statistics were grim reminders that the lack of prompt, definitive and standardized trauma care was producing fragmented, and presumably substandard, care for trauma patients. The ability to provide a mechanism that would elevate the quality of care for trauma victims became a priority within the association.
The Trauma Nursing Core Course has been designed by nurses for nurses. Its intent is to provide a consistent knowledge base and approach nurses rendering trauma care. This course will enhance cognitive skills, sharpen technical skills and provide a foundation for future learning. Its ultimate purpose is to improve the level of care provided in emergency care settings – large, small, rural and urban.
In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, please advise Linda Harmsen, Trauma Services, at 530-5153 if you have any disability that requires special materials and/or services so that appropriate personnel can be advised.
