Due to the severity of complications from this year’s influenza strain, St. Alexius Medical Center is increasing visitor restrictions. On January 13 of this year, the medical center began restricting visitation to its Intensive Care Unit. The new restrictions apply to the hospital and outpatient areas.
• Children under 12 years of age are prohibited from visiting patients
• Visitation is restricted to immediate family only; immediate family members not vaccinated against influenza will be required to wear a mask
• Specialty clinic, ER, lab and imaging patients who are experiencing flu-like symptoms or who have not received the influenza vaccine are required to wear a mask
St. Alexius will screen all patients and visitors, which could cause a slight delay. Please be prepared and plan accordingly. The general public is reminded it is not too late to vaccinate against influenza. In addition, it is important to always cover your cough and practice good hand hygiene.
