St. Alexius Restricting Visitors to NICU, Mom/Baby and Children’s Units

Due to the prevalence of influenza, St. Alexius Medical Center is restricting visitors to its Mom/Baby, Children’s and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.  Children under the age of 12 are prohibited from visiting patients on these units.  In addition, anyone who is ill with fever, cough, sore throat or body aches is strongly urged to refrain from visiting patients in the hospital.

Supha K. Arthurs, MD, infectious disease specialist with St. Alexius, stated, “We believe making these temporary changes in visitation is in the best interest of our patients’ safety and well-being during this heavy influenza season.” The restrictions will remain in place until the threat of influenza has passed or returned to normal seasonal level.
