Heart Luncheon Draws More Than 220 Women

St. Alexius Medical Center Heart & Lung Clinic hosted its second annual Give from the Heart Luncheon on Tuesday, January 28 at the Radisson Hotel in Bismarck. More than 220 women attended the event including special guests First Lady Betsy Dalrymple and Kathleen Wrigley. Keynote speaker was Dr. Carmen Ilie, interventional cardiologist at St. Alexius Heart & Lung Clinic, who spoke on women’s heart health issues.

Community businesses and individuals sponsored and decorated a table at the luncheon. The twenty-one centerpieces used as part of the table decorations were auctioned off during a live auction at the event. More than $7,000 was raised and will be used to help fund an activated clotting time (ACT) machine, which measures a patient’s blood-thinning level.

The luncheon is the start of a month long celebration of American Heart Association’s national “Go Red For Women” campaign and American Heart Month in February.
