Great Plains Rehabilitation Services Named Quality Respiratory Care Provider

St. Alexius Great Plains Rehabilitation Services is the only provider in North Dakota to be named “Quality Respiratory Care Provider.” Great Plains has been given the recognition under a new program that aims to make sure patients who receive respiratory care services through home care organizations are getting quality care provided by a qualified respiratory therapist. This is the eleventh year Great Plains has been honored with this distinction.

The American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) started the Quality Respiratory Care Recognition (QRCR) program in 2003 to help consumers make informed choices about their health care. The program initially enrolled hospitals that agreed to ensure patient safety by adhering to a strict set of criteria governing their respiratory care services. Home care organizations were added to the program a year later, and the Association also has added long-term care facilities.

The AARC's QRCR program has grown out of increasing concerns among health care leaders and the general public regarding the safety and quality of health care services provided to patients. The AARC says organizations that meet the QRCR requirements provide a level of respiratory care consistent with national standards and guidelines and should be commended for their commitment to quality care.
