TERMINAL COMPETENCIES:

Graduates of this program are able to:
  • provide a high level of radiation protection for patient, self, and others.
  • understand the processor mechanically and chemically.
  • effectively operate CR (Computerized Radiography) and PACS system.
  • demonstrate knowledge of human anatomy and physiology as they relate to radiography
  • demonstrate knowledge of human pathology and how it affects the radiographic image and exposure factors
  • demonstrate knowledge of proper lifting and transport techniques
  • effectively operate radiographic imaging equipment within the guidelines of safety
  • knowledgeably use accessory patient restraint and comfort devices for the patient's safety and radiation protection
  • effectively position the patient and radiographic equipment to achieve a diagnostic radiographic examination or procedure
  • demonstrate initiative in modifying routine procedures to accommodate for patient's condition, limitations in equipment, and other variables.
  • demonstrate and utilize appropriate exposure factors to obtain diagnostic quality radiographs with minimum patient radiation exposure
  • adapt changes in exposure factors for various patient conditions, equipment, accessories, and contrast media while maintaining appropriate radiographic quality
  • recognize emergency patient conditions and institute correct procedures for administering to them
  • immediately recognize the symptoms of cardiac arrest and to initiate C.P.R.
  • critique radiographs concerning positioning, image quality, and medico-legal aspects
