St. Alexius Medical Center with cardiac services provided by the doctors of the St. Alexius Heart & Lung Clinic, has received the 2008 five-star rating, for the third consecutive year, in overall cardiac care, cardiac surgery, cardiology services, coronary bypass surgery, coronary interventional procedures and treatment for heart attack, by HealthGrades, an independent ratings company.

St. Alexius Medical Center has also received the honor of being named a 2007 Thomson 100 Top Heart Hospital®. This is the second time that St. Alexius Medical Center, with cardiac services provided by the physicians of the St. Alexius Heart & Lung Clinic, has received this designation for its cardiovascular services. In 2002, St. Alexius Medical Center also received this award.
To qualify, hospitals must achieve high scores across eight equally weighted performance criteria that reflect clinical processes and outcomes, volume, efficiency and cost. The cost is in four critical cardiovascular treatment areas: acute myocardial infarction (heart attack); congestive heart failure; coronary artery bypass graft and percutaneous coronary intervention.
